Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO)

The Healthy Smiles Program is an Ontario government-funded basic dental program providing preventive and early treatment services for children and youth in low income families, who are 17 years of age or under.  If eligible, your children will get regular dental services at no cost to you.

Children are automatically enrolled in the program if:

  • they receive assistance under:
    • Temporary Care Assistance
    • Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
  • they or their family receive:
    • Ontario Works
    • Ontario Disability Support

To be eligible for the program, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Be 17 years of age or under;
  2. Be a resident of Ontario and;
  3. Come from a household with an income equal to or less than the levels in the table below

3 children $26,205 or lower
4 children $27,927 or lower
5 children $29,650 or lower
6 children $31,372 or lower
7 children $33,095 or lower
8 children $34,817 or lower
9 children $36,540 or lower
10 or more children $38,262 or lower. Add $1,695 for each additional dependent child to determine the income level at which your family would qualify for Healthy Smiles Ontario.

You will need to show specific documents during the enrollment process:

Required information and documents:

  • your child(ren)’s date(s) of birth
  • a valid Ontario address
  • your Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Temporary Taxation Number (TTN)
  • to have filed your taxes in the previous year
